When it comes to Wireless HDMI Extenders there are typically two types you will see available, Uncompressed and Compressed signals.
Uncompressed Wireless HDMI Extenders are the closest quality you will see to actually just plugging in a short HDMI cable as the signal is unaltered during transmission.
With Uncompressed Wireless HDMI Extenders the typical max range is around 100ft, depending on your model type, and the transmitter and receiver should be in line of site or very close to. Some will say they can go through walls however if you do this it will greatly reduce the distance and can cause intermittent signal loss.
Most Uncompressed Wireless HDMI Extenders use a frequency of 60GHz which does not interferer with common signals from sources like wireless routers and telephones.
Compressed Wireless HDMI Extenders use compression technologies such H.264 and HDBitT to send your AV source signal in packets like IP (internet protocol) which allows you to achieve much farther distances then Uncompressed signals as well as passing through objects like walls and floors with greater ease.
The typical range of Compressed Wireless HDMI Extenders is anywhere from 165ft to 1000ft.
Using advanced Compression technologies like HDBitT allows you to achieve these greater distances but at the same time keeping your signal crisp and clear and almost an undetectable difference to the naked eye between Uncompressed and Compressed signal.
Most Compressed Wireless HDMI signals use the frequency of 5GHz.
